Getting Inked? Here Are A Few Things You Should Keep In Mind

Getting inked can be an equally exciting and terrifying prospect, especially if it is your first tattoo. While having a tattoo can certainly provide you with a renewed confidence and add an edgy touch to your personality, the process of getting it is not that smooth.  Tattoos are a great form of self-expression, but you must be prepared to deal with the pain that comes with getting one. Moreover, before getting inked, you have to choose the perfect tattoo parlour, because the wrong ones will not only give you a badly made tattoo, but cause certain health complications like scarring and contracting infections.

To ensure that your experience of getting inked is a positive and memorable one, here are some of the things you should definitely keep in mind:

  • Select the ideal location: The place you want to get tattooed should be chosen to take your pain tolerance levels into consideration. It can especially be quite painful to get a tattoo in areas like the kneecaps and lower ribs. Hence, if you plan to have a large tattoo design or have low pain tolerance levels, then you should steer clear of these areas. The best places for having a tattoo would be the forearm, the arm shoulder joint, and the top of the thighs. The pain involved in getting inked is typically low in these regions, thereby ensuring a hassle-free experience for you.
  • Don’t get a sunburn: While getting spontaneously inked during your beach holiday does sound fun, you must make sure that you are not sunburned. The biggest issue with sunburn is that your skin shall already be damaged, and hence any pain you might experience while getting a tattoo shall be enhanced. Moreover, there would be extra blood near the surface of your damaged skin that can further dilute the tattoo ink, making the job of your tattoo artist way harder.
  • Ensure the well-being of your skin: Your skin would be much like a canvas for your tattoo artist. Conversely, scratches, bruises, and cuts tend to create uneven patches of skin, and result in a difficult canvas for your tattoo artist to work on. Hence, if you are planning to get a tattoo sometime in the future, you should see to it that your skin is in the best possible condition on the big day. Keeping your skin adequately moisturized would surely help.

Keeping these simple tips in mind before getting inked can help you to avoid a lot of pain and hassle.
