Several Factors That Can Cause Your Pulse Rate To Increase

The pulse rate is the number of times a healthy human heart pumps blood to all the organs per minute. The regular beats per minute range between 60-100 times. However, the pulse rate may exceed the normal rate for several reasons, such as daily activities or certain health conditions. An individual with a high pulse rate can quickly feel the changes in the body. The symptoms of high heart rate include palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, and in some cases – fainting. These symptoms occur for a short time and go away as soon as the cause is eliminated momentarily or permanently.

The high pulse rate, scientifically called tachycardia, may also indicate some serious health issues, leading to severe problems such as stroke, heart failure, etc., if left untreated. However, the pulse rate can also be triggered by minor things such as certain activities, minor health issues, etc. Therefore, there are several major and minor causes of tachycardia which are as follows:

Certain Daily Activities

Individuals may shoot their heart rate beyond the specified range after running, walking, or doing any activity that uses more energy than regular activity. Such activities put a lot of pressure on the heart, and the heart is forced to work harder to pump blood effectively. That, in turn, causes a high pulse rate.

Health Conditions

People who suffer from blood-pressure problems, malfunctioning thyroid problems, diabetes, anaemia, etc., may feel their pulse rate increasing every now and then. They may feel symptoms of high heart rate, such as body shaking, extreme sweating, vomiting, etc. Proper rest and timely medications will keep this problem away.

Pregnant women have a high pulse rate because their bodies have to work harder to provide nutrients to the growing baby. Similarly, a pregnant lady's heart also feels a lot of pressure and beats more times to fulfil its duty of supplying blood adequately to the fetus.

Certain Food Habits

Certain foods that are hard to digest, such as fatty or spicy foods, cause the heart rate to increase. Individuals who regularly indulge in such foods may feel an increased heart rate at regular times.

Intake Of Caffeine And Nicotine

Both of these things make the heart rate shoot up. Therefore, indulging in too much tea, coffee, alcohol, or cigarettes will make the concerned individual experience a constant high pulse rate.

Psychological Issues

One of the significant high pulse rate causes is overbearing stress, anxiety or depression, or any other psychological problem.

Heart Diseases

People suffering from any form of heart disease, such as coronary heart disease, aortic regurgitation, etc., will complain about feeling palpitations and uneasiness due to increased pulse rate. It is one of the severe high pulse rate causes and must be immediately treated. Otherwise, it may lead to unwanted circumstances.

Therefore, to sum it all, the causes of high pulse rate are numerous. It can result from strenuous activities to unhealthy lifestyle habits. On the contrary, it can also be an indication of a health issue. In any case, if a person repeatedly experiences the symptoms of high heart rate, they must consult a doctor to eliminate the chances of developing any severe condition.
