Simple Measures You Must Take To Stay Protected From Dengue
Almost every year, dengue fever ends up affecting several people across India. This mosquito borne viral infection spreads extremely fast, and leads to symptoms like high fever, joint pain, body ache, skin rashes, and more. In certain instances, dengue can become fatal as well. Hence, incorporating dengue precaution tactics into daily lifestyle is important for all people, to be assured of optimal safety.
As dengue fever starts off with very mild symptoms, a lot of people ignore it at first, and in the end, it becomes a severe health issue. To avoid these complications, systematic dengue fever prevention strategies are needed. Here are some of them:
- Steer clear of mosquito bites: The prime and most obvious way to stay safe from dengue would be to stay away from mosquito bites. But this is easier said than done, as mosquitoes are quite common in Indian cities. For maximum protection, you should wear full sleeve clothes and properly have all your body parts covered so that mosquitoes don’t get enough surface to bite. You may use a mosquito net while sleeping, to keep yourself effectively protected. Applying mosquito repellent lotion while stepping out of the house can also be a good dengue precaution tactic.
- Keep the indoors tidy and clean: Your own house can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, making it an unsafe environment for you and your family to reside in. There are several factors that may contribute to the indoor breeding of mosquitoes, stagnant water being among the most common ones. You should try to not store water in buckets or containers for too long. Proper cleaning of pots where water is likely to be collected is also important. On the whole, keeping your home perfectly clean and tidy is the best way to prevent it from becoming a mosquito breeding ground.
- Keep doors and windows closed: Mosquitoes invariably enter your home through open windows and doors, and hence you should try to keep them closed whenever possible. If you have a broken door or window at home then it should also be fixed at once.
The above-mentioned pointers can significantly help with dengue fever prevention. However, even if you, unfortunately, do get infected with this fever, its early detection and treatment can significantly help you to fight it in an efficient manner. Hence, you must visit a doctor as soon as possible, if you observe any indication of dengue fever in yourself.
